Grounded Beginnings

Born from a designer’s own garden, Grounded Beginnings explores the tension between human design and nature’s own intelligence. Inspired by landscape architecture and the work of artist Diana Scherer—which examines our desire to control nature—the collection reimagines design as an act of co-creation with the natural world. Gathering switchgrass, goldenrod, and pin oak leaves and arranging the materials into loose grids allowed their forms to guide the design. The result: two coordinating patterns that balance structure with wildness. Entirely made in the U.S. using water-based inks, Grounded Beginnings celebrates the beauty that emerges when we design with, not against, the natural world.
