Mannington has released a second environmental product declaration (EPD), for its Infinity®RE modular carpet tiles.
Infinity RE is a revolutionary carpet backing that diverts carpet tile, one of the largest construction waste streams, from landfills. All carpet backed with Infinity RE is manufactured in Calhoun, GA and contains a minimum of 30% total recycled content, including 10-14% post consumer recycled content by total product weight. Because it has been engineered to Mannington’s high standards of performance, it is warranted never to edge ravel, delaminate, zipper, dome or dish.
Already NSF/ANSI certified as an Environmentally Preferable Product, to the platinum level, Infinity RE has now also been subjected to a full life cycle assessment, verified by two third party reviewers – Sustainable Solutions Corporation and NSF International.
“Many product manufacturers in the building and contraction industry are looking for ways to communicate the environmental performance of their products and services in the marketplace,” said Dave Kitts, Mannington’s VP–Environment. “EPDs have become one of those methods, offering an internationally standardized means of describing a product’s environmental impact, throughout its entire life cycle.”
Recognized in the new LEED V4 Green Building Rating System as well as in GBI’s new Green Globes for New Construction rating tool, EPDs are used by government purchasers, green builders, architects and interior designers to help make more informed product decisions in selecting products that meet their environmental goals. Mannington’s third EPD will be released before year’s end.
