A Holistic Approach to Sustainable Interiors
Program Summary
Accredited for health, safety and welfare, this course is equal to 0.1 IDCEC CEU/HSW and 1AIA LU/HSW. It’s never been more important to clarify, prioritize, and demystify sustainable decision-making in the design industry. In this course we discuss the impact and challenges of specifying sustainably, particularly these three aspects of sustainability most relevant to interiors: reducing embodied carbon, material impact, and circularity.
We’ll also explore the importance of planning for deconstruction and how it can significantly impact the lifecycle of a building, promoting resource efficiency and reducing waste. Recognize that achieving net-zero goals requires a holistic approach that goes beyond new construction, embracing offsetting and maximizing reuse as powerful tools in the sustainability toolkit. We will emphasize the multidimensional nature of sustainable decision-making, encompassing environmental, social, and economic considerations. Join us to expand your knowledge, elevate your design practice, and become an informed advocate for sustainable commercial interiors.
